View Full Version : Scratching and Ear Wart.

My Campbell Dwarf hamster Kiba keeps scratching a lot. First she licks her paw and then scratches the place. Is she just cleaning herself or is it serious. Also, awhile ago, she had this wart in her ear. It kept growing and was pink. Then I was away for a weekend and when I came back, it had turned black. After a day or so, it was gone! Now, it is growing back, but it seems to have stopped growing. Do you guys think it was just a wart? :confused:

I think we need a photo to tell, or to try to. I don't think warts are pink, though. Tried some bacitracin ointment?

Maybe call a vet?

We definately need to see a pic to be able to really help you. I don't think it was a wart. Post and pic, and call a vet is my current advice for you.

Well, it isn't cancer. And I saw this website that said that campbell hamsters get ear warts. I also saw a picture on the web that looked exactly like what she had. I forget the website, but I remember saying to myself, "Ah, so it's an ear wart!" I know it isn't cancer and she is fine, and after it fell out, it regrew back, but it stopped growing. And even if I do call a vet to get it surgically removed, it will just grow back again. Believe me, she is fine! I was just wondering what it was...

jiffycat that seemed a bit uncalled for...sounds like they figured out it was nothing by doing some research, however if it is a wart that she is scratching til it bleeds, scabs and then falls off, you might want to treat it or it could lead to infection or she might just itch til the whole ear comes off! hammies can be neurotic about one little spot and wind up hurting it more...

Nope, she doesn't scratch it until it bleeds. Thanks lotsopigs. She is doing fine! :)
