last night my hammie got out of her cage through the little hole ontop of the ct2 where the original water bottle went. Anyways, my dad and i searched the house last night for almost 3 hours and right before bed i set up 3 lil trap things where there was food around it and then she could climb up into the bowl and hopefully sleep. I set up also her normal cage and the small cage one upstairs in the hall and another one in the garage incase she got into the garage when we were going in and out. I also set some carrots and grapes (her fave.) in each room hoping she will come out and eat a lil of it so we know if she is in the house or not... Is there anything else that i can do or what? any advice would be appriciated...

My hamster has gotten out twice since I've had him. You seem to be doing the right things. When my hammy escaped he went into my closet. Are there any quiet, secluded places in your house that you might have not checked yet? Bookbags, cups, other containers,etc...

i have checked every where imaginable, my only thought is that she is either in my sisters room, in the garage, or in my clothset, which i have checked many times...

Buy a couple live mouse traps and set them around the house with your hamsters favorite foods. Then when he decides he hungry, he'll go into the trap, the trap closes and he won't be able to escape. Next morning he's alive and well in the live moues trap and put him in a new cage and there you go.

won't the mouse traps hurt her?

They are LIVE mouse traps.
Not the ones that kill.
The ones that trap the mouse and you have to set the mouse free far away from your house ALIVE.

You could also try the free version:

Giant glass tomatoe sauce jar, food on bottom ramp to get into jar, hammie climbs in, jar tips onto the base, hammie cant get out.

try placing a few of these around the house.

Constructing a hamster trap.
For step 5 to work, make sure that the jar tips just enough to make it stand straight.

The pics worked for me. That looks like my Bear Bear (except she's a girl) there, getting trapped in a pitcher. (I even have a pitcher like that, lol.) Have you found your hammie yet? Do you have an entertainment center? Those are usually hollow underneath and open in the back, your hammie could be hiding under there.

the pics are working now. No i haven't found my hammie yet. and i am running out of ideas where to look. I tore apart the whole upstairs of the house and no Kalia, and now the cat is home and so its going to be slim... Yea i do have an entertainment center, and i have checked it every hour or so incase she is back there because she went back there before. Tks for the ideas...

Watch the cat. The cat will smell it and possibly hunt it down. Follow the cat around and it might lead you to your hamster. Just wondering why did you take out the water bottle?

i took out the water bottle that hung from the top of the cage and replaced it with a little bubble thing and then i put a different water bottle down below so it won't leak. and we took her with us on vacation, and when we put the main cage in the trunk the bubble was taken off and wasn't put back on... she rode with me on my lap in a smaller cage.

nope i haven't... and i have followed the cat around for a while and nothing. The food hasn't been touched that i layed out for her, and the traps aren't disturbed...

Well, as long as you haven't found hammies pieces or blood stains from the cat eating the hammie, there is no reason to give up hope. Don't forget to let us know as time goes by what is happening.

When my Skittles got loose, it took me about 3 or 4 days before I was able to catch him. It took 2 days just to figure out where he was hiding. Don't give up hope!! Look for little hammie poo and keep looking watching the cat, the cat should lead you right to him.

OK. Tkz guys. I was currious what is better a male long hair or a female long hair syrian? I was planning on getting another hammie before Kalia (girl) vanished, and i don't know what one is better.

Syrian hamsters need to be house alone otherwise they will fight. They are very territorial against other hamsters and other rodents. I think both male & females make good pets.

i understand that they need to be in seperate houses. I was going to do so. I was just currious though what one is better. Tkz.

I hope that you find your hamster! Also, make sure next time that you have an-esape proof hamster cage. Glass 10-gallon aquariums with screen tops and clips work great.

my hammie escaped this morning! i woke up with googies still in my eyes and started running around my apartment looking for him! after about an hour of looking i was feeling like i would never find him. as i was walking to the kitchen he poped up out of my bookshelf. lol when i tried to pick him up he took one look at me and ran into the kitched. he musta been so scared with me running after him. the point is .. he might just pop up even when your not looking :)

i personally like males better, they just seem a bit more friendly and gentle. have u ever tried a dwarf chinese? they're awesome pets if you haven't! and you can keep them with a sibling so they don't get lonely. have u tried putting out a seed/treat in each room/area and seeing which disappears?

hey, if you still haven't found your hammie, u could try a animal communicator (pet physic). I've had a lot of success with Sue Hopple, 719-481-3917. she helped me find my hamster after four days outside.

my hammie has gotten out quite a few times and i had fund her behind my dresser and in the drawers. My advice is to look around wood and to set food dishes around. If the cage is up high put it down low so if he/she is around they will go back in
