On Friday I found an adult male dachshund wondering around the military base near by with no collar or anything on. So I took him home and if I cannot find his owner I think I will keep him. He is sooo cute he is about 3 or 4 years old and he is a dark brown color. He doesnt know any tricks and he is kinda skinny not emaciated.

Make sure to put word in to the vets and shelters around the area that you did find the dog just in case someone did lose him.

I would assume he has a home, most purebred fairly well taken care of dogs do belong to someone and most likely got out. The correct thing to do would be take him to the local humane society and let them know if the dog is not claimed in the amount of time they have set then adopt him the proper way. To many dogs never go back to there real home because the family never knows where they ended up. I'm sure he is a great dog put do the right thing and try and find his real home, if not then adopt him from the humane society if you think you can handle more. There vet will get him all up to date on shots and neutered if hes not and wormed and microchipped and then you can go ahead and add him to your family.
Post some pics of the lil bugger.

I have 5 dachshnds, they are good dogs. They bark alot though, and they are quite hard to teach tricks to. Im glad you picked him up, i hate when people just ignore lost/stray dogs.
