need info on gerbils

I want to start a pet shop. no not the ones that you fear. :D
I want to keep all the animals in comfortable enclosers. there will be a dog and a cat room all the animals will be socialized and the dogs and all other animals will be potty trained. I think it will be a success:angel4: so anyway I wanna learn all I can about all exotics reptiles birds and whatever other animals need a good home

1, Gerbils are highly socabil animals and should be sold in pairs or groups.

2, Never pick up by the tail as they can loose it.

3, No plastic - gerbils chew and plastic can kill

4, no wheels - Metal ones can brake legs and tails and they chew the plastic ones.

4, No fluffy bedding or Cedar - these kill. Use aspen or carefresh and unscented, undyed toilet paper.

5, Give only wooden toys and lots of cardboard to chew

6, No cages - only tanks as they love to dig and burrow and use a metal gaurd for the water bottles.

7,They love to have a good roll in a dish of chinchilla SAND once a week (dish should be ceramic)

8, Never mix sexes

9 Females are more territorial so need more room than males.

10, Never use hamster balls or leads with gerbils as they brake there backs etc.

Hey, i think that starting a pet shop is a good idea. I have some gerbils and here are a few tips.

1. a 10 gallon tank will fit three gerbils comfortably,

2. gerbils love companions

3. never pick them up by their tails, they can lose them.

4. If you decide to breed them, keep the male in the tank, he will make a very good father.

5. if you decide to use a wheel, use one that will not have any bars, possibly use one that will stick to the side of the tank with a suction cup, there is less of a risk of one hurting themselves with that.

6. possibly give out care sheetes with info that you recieve or find on the NGS website.
