I've had my syrian hamster for a while now hes lovely and I've really taken a shine to hammies. I only thing i know is that the syrian hamster is solitairy and the dwarves are not.
I just wondered what the other main differences are between them. For example do they need different food ?
thanks

Here are the Differences:
Syrians:
Grow to be about 8 inches in length.
Syrians come in a multitude of colors compared to the dwarf. They range from solids to calico. They can also be short-haired or long-haired.
Syrians are loners.
Syrians, when tame, remain that way, even if neglected.
Dwarves (Campbell):
Grow to be about 3-4 inches in length.
Dwarfs come in far fewer colors than Syrians.
Dwarfs can live together or in small groups.
Dwarfs tend to be more active than Syrians, but that activity level varies from hamster to hamster.
Dwarfs, when not kept hand-tame, will become wild.
They can eat the same food. I use Fiesta on my little dwarf hammie!
Hope that helps good luck! :)

Dwarves come in more than one breed, the other breeds sold in pet stores are winter whites and robrovskis. Some pet store sell chinese hamsters but those aren't dwarves. Dwarves have big eyes compared to a syrian also.
