Yesterday at Petsmart (Getting new bedding and food for my micey girlies) my mom was checking out the mice and she saw the Hammies. She fell in love with the long haired ones.

I'm planing on getting a new 20 gallon tank for my 3 Mice, along with a new mouse (x-mas presents to my girlies). When that happens I will have a extra 10 gallon, and she wants to use it for a new hammie (of couse i have take care of him/her and everything, she just gets to play with him/her. Parents...). I'm woundering if that would be enough room for a long haired siryian(sp?) hamster.

Also do ya'll know of any good care sheets online?

if you have a 10 gallon with a cage topper that would be okay. but otherwise that might be a little too small. your lucky your mom likes rodents haha my mom just acts like there gross but i catch her down in my room sometimes looking at my rat!!

My mom calls my mice her "Grandbabies".

EDIT: Also do Hamsters climb? I have a tank topper that I can also use if they can climb up the little plastic ladder (solid plastic).

That would be fine.. it will be harder to clean than a plastic cage. When my last rat that I got from the ASPCA died, she asked if I wanted to get a guinea pig, and I told her later. She came home that same day with 2 hairless rats. I want to get more, but I can't find a breeder in my area.

I also have an Outlook (Crittertrail?), but I think it couldn't get through the tubes.

It can get through the tubes just fine (they look fat but they're just fluffy) and the plastic ramps are perfect, hams can climb suprisingly well:) Just make sure the ham has a wheel to run on and everything should be fine:D Good Luck!!!

When I first sprayed one for mites I had to get her wet all over and rub it into the skin. She sure looked a lot thinner with the fur all wet and plastered down! :D

its alot of work.. But Im glad I have them all. Most of them were strays I found, or cats we got from the ASPCA. Four were fostered. I enjoy them though, they are good cats!! :)

Zouave, yeah, my long haired male looks HUGE (pics. of him in my gallery) but he is really quite little when you pick him up, lol:)

Punky, do your cats go outside? I'm assuming they have to, that many cats in the house all the time would be nuts.:Dlol

I know, that is so wierd about parents. Mine are always calling my gerbs rats or mice. But when one was sick and I had it in the kitchen on a heating pad, my dad was always giving it cardboard once it got better, and asking if the water bottle was full enough, and if she had enough food.

I had Gerbils before I had Hamsters and my Mom loved them. She didn't like hams as much because she thought they smelled, but I proved her wrong when I got my rescue ham who was supposed to be a gerbil, lol:) Now I have 8 and my parents always come in and check on them when they wake me up in the morning, even though they still call them gerbils sometimes, lol. For some reson my mom has this weird thing where she hates rodents with naked tails, like mice and rats, so I won't have any of them until I'm out of the house.:(

they have a cat door installed next to a window so they can go in and out, and the dogs can't.
