Alright, I've finally decided just what I want to do. I want to open up a pet-store that just sells small animals (gerbils, mice and hamsters, nothing else). It will be a pet supply store that does not sell cedar shavings or any other harmful product. There will be different sections for toys, food, etc for cats and dogs, and any animal at all. Eventually I would like to open my own animal shelter/rescue, and combine the two.

So now what? What school courses do I need to take in college? What licences are required?

I would also make up care sheets/booklets, have adoption forms even for the small animals (with a quiz included to test the person knowledge on that animal). Free access to care books (a small library section). So, what do you think and, where do I start?

Great. A library section for pet care books that let's u check them out is a good idea. I also like that u will not sell any cedar. I also recomend you do not sell any vitakarft hedgehog food or pretty pets products. Don't sell supermarket brand cat/dog foods like whiskas, 9 lives or pedigree either. They are mostly junk and that's why they sell them at supermarkets. As for classes you should take, i'm not sure.
