Dog and Symbolism

I'm not sure about what kind of dog symbolizes what.
But I'm sure they are said to symbolize something.
e.g. ABC dog - peace
DEF dog - war
Would you please let me know if you know the site
or any other source where I can find such information.
Also is there a kind of dog called Rodmeyers? It is
pronounced something like that in Japan, but I don't
know the correct spelling in English.

Oh yes, this is the one. Rottweiler.
Here in Japan somebody said something
like Rodmeyer. We use English-like words,
but many of them are pronounced strangely.
