What Is This Bird [Archive]

im at complete loss. ive searched and searched but i cannot for the life of me find out what kind of bird ive got. now im not an irresponsible pet owner, its just a relative died, and left him to me.

so i was wondering. coudl you help me?

ive come to the conclusion it must be a finch of some sort. cos its finch shaped. lol. its got a bright orange hood and black breast and back. the rest of it is brown,like a sparrow. hes 13 (!!) years old (apparently, though he doesn't half look it) and he changes colour in the winter to look like a sparrow.

it's driving me nuts, please help!

can you post a picture? That might make it easier. Look online for Finches and see if you can find one that looks like your bird.

Is it's beak orange as well? If so, I'd say it was a zebra finch.

though they don't have a black breast, but tan...

They are rather commin finches though. I like the "peep peep" noise they make. ^^

Huh? He was asking what kind of bird he had. He said he thought it was a finch, and I posted a pic of a zebra finch....
