My tortoise got dropped. Please help.

Hi, I have a Russian Tortoise that got dropped tonight on the way out to our front yard for his evening outting. I see one centemeter sized chip, not deep at all, on his shell. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong that I can see. He seems ok right now, but wanted to get some advice about what I should be looking for in the next few days. We are still new at tortoise parenting! Thank you!

Well I'm happy to say that I was more damaged then our boy was after his fall. He seems to be just fine and is back to his old self again. I bought a plastic travel carrier for him, even if it's only to take him outside, no more accidents allowed!!

Not quite sure what you mean by his evening outing. maybe your tortoise would be better in a permanent outdoor housing rather than being transported daily. As you have found they are very strong and can soon wriggle loose from a strong grip. Look out for sigs of bleeding from any orifice, but if he was mine I would have him checked out by a reputable reptile vet.
