My bird layed an egg before i went out of town in the bottom of the cage. She and the boy both played with the egg like it was a ball or some toy and cracked it. I left it there and when i came back from vacation, the guy who sat them didn't tell me, there were two more eggs. They haven't played with them so I put them on a cloth in the same spot they were very carefully not to jolt anything inside. She lays next to them and looks at them with love as it seems but not on them. I think she is afraid of breaking them or something. Is there anything I need to do for her? She is trying to build a nest around them and it looks like she is doing pretty good. :stork-gir :stork-boy

What will make her reject them? Just wondering. I've don't know about any of this.

She's also covering them with stuff like material and paper shreddings. Is that because she is rejecting them or because she is trying to keep them warm?

She is probably not sitting on them because she doesn't like the cloth. They are really picky about leaving things the way they have them. I would not suggest breeding as a newbie, therfore, I would not get them a nest box. I doubt she can hatch out a clutch on the bottom of the cage because there is no way to retain heat in an open cage. My suggestion would be to take the cloth out and see if that makes her happy. I would not take the eggs, as she will lay more to replace them. Just watch her until she figures out these are not going to hatch and loses interest, then dump them. Make sure she has a cuttlebone to replace the calcium she is losing making eggs, or clean pieces of egg shell in her dish.
