I have two questions to ask you guys:

1. How often should budgies/cockatiels be given a warm water spray bath in the winter?

2. I have 2 budgies and 2 cockatiels, and the 2 budgies seem to be going bald on their chest (both of them). i had their skin checked by the vet and there is no infections or anything. so what could be causing this baldness?

none of the birds seem to be displaying any physical symptoms (they're all still very active and lively and whatnot)

Thanks for you help.

1. You should spray your birds everyday.

2. They could be plucking eachother. Sometimes pairs will do that. You might have to separate them to determine who's doing the plucking and to allow the feathers to grow back.

Good luck :).

I'm supposed to spray my cockatiel? Amusing ... I never knew that.

I don't think he would take it too well, though.

hi,
you do not need to spray your birds but some birds love it. you could also leave a bird bath in their cage so they can have a bath whenever they want. it is so funny to watch them having a bath.

Actually cockatiels will rarely take a bath by themselves in any dish so they do really need to be sprayed.. it helps keep the dander down and encourages grooming.. I spray mine at least once a week..

ya, so do i (spray them once a week), the cockatiels both love it. sometimes i put out a little bath for them to go in on the floor, and they love playing in that as well. just wondering if it was ok, especially now that its winter, but i guess that shouldnt matter as long as i keep it at a reasonable temperature in the house.
