1. Most advice I've been given is just give a piece of wet lettuce (darker green varieties are best) for water and they shouldn't need to eat for fairly short trips. If its longer you will need to provide food ...I'm guessing your getting them from a breeder? Best to feed what they are currently being given and slowly convert to whatever you plan to feed them.
2. Again convert feed slowly. Many debates have ranged on bird nutrition but I think its agreed that they need variety. Pellets (made for tiels..look for one low in sugar and artificial flavours) should make up about 50% of the diet and only 10% seed... everything else should be veggies (lookup the net for more nutrition info..there's plenty written on it.. I suggest Cockatiel Cottage to start with)
3. 6 weeks is the suggested quarantine time.. and during that time they must be in seperate rooms and you must wash yourself thoroughly before contacting each (clothes must be changed for it to be a true quarantine) During this time take your new tiels to the vet for a 'well bird' exam where they can have a fecal smear, blood test and physical inspection to rule out common diseases. (some diseases can spread to humans so I'd consider this very important)
3. Don't get to worried if your new tiels are very quiet, still, fluffed up, not eating for the first couple days. Most experiance aiety, just keep watching for poops (signs they are eating) and if they don't recover after 3 days again a visit to the vet is in order. Good luck :)

I believe i may be able to help..

1.As has already been stated lettuce is great! Its the first thing my Lutino Tiel ate when i first got it. Depending on the hours that you get the tiel it should be fine without food for 3 hours.

2.At home you will probably need to follow on from the breeder's method, it will most probably be hand fed, make sure you are informed before getting the bird.

3.They will be to young to just place straight in with any other tiels i suggest 6-8 weeks, keep the tiel on its own for 1-2 weeks until it comfortably interacts with you, then place it own cage near or next to the other tiels, giving them a chance to interact, and ofcourse finally see how the new tiel goes and settles into to its new environment with other tiels. If i were you i would keep a close on it its behavior in the first week with the other tiel.

4. More of a safety check, it can tend to get very hot in cars especially if its summer in your area. Keep a reasonable temperature and all should be fine!!

Enjoy your new cockatiels and tell us how everything goes. :)
