I am located in Philadelphia and have a female glider that I can not keep anymore. I am going to school now and have no time for her. She is tame and adorable. She comes with the cage and all of her stuff. Please email me at Scottsbaby41@aol.com with any offers.

i would make sure you give her to a person with experience and where its legal. The last time i checked, sugar gliders were illegal in philadelphia. Maybe laws have changed, but i doubt it!

Sugar Gliders have never being illegal to own in PA, there are laws about bring them in or out of state, but that's a different story, there is a lot of confussion on this topic most of it's people spouting off about what they heard, just for general knowledge. I mean no offense by correcting you (ps if you ever need to find out PA SG laws do NOT call the Game comission, those guys are lazy jerks who tell everyone they are illegal so they don't have to look up the real answer)

In the early 90's the PA Department of Agriculture passed a law/bill stating that animals born in captivity were considered domestic and under their jurisdiction. However the PGC found a loop hole and have since buried the law. Even now if you go to the web site for the PADA you will see they refer persons to the PGC concerning some animals.

There is no fighting, petitioning, or standing up for glider rights that will get glider legalized in PA.

Example....in a portion of the PGC code regarding exotics it says that educational facilities are exempt from obtaining a permit. I have had direct contact with teachers and school administration that were forced to comply with every step of permitting even though it clearly says they didn't need a license.

It's true that the PGC aren't currently giving out licenses, but not many people know why. PGC require 2 years of hands on experience from one of their approved facilities before they will issue an exotic wildlife permit. What they don't tell you is that they have no list of approved facilities. When they say 2 years they mean 8 hours a day 5 days a week of complete hands on experience. I only know of one person they've issues a permit to and it wasn't for gliders. They wont even consider ownership in another state as experience.

When the WCO inspected the school facility, they required the cage sizes to be that of a flying squirrel. 4x4x4 was the min. for 2 gliders. Each additional glider required 1 foot added to each side.

During conversations with PGC over the last five years their rules have changed... they've gone from needing a permit to not allowing at all by quoting a section that says no animals from another state or nation.
