Some of you may remember me from: http://www.petshub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=390904

Something very wierd has been happening to him ever since this morning. He appears to be "stretching", but he has been doing it for hours now. He twists and turns like he is trying to touch his back with his nose. I gave him hamster feed, hoping it will distract him, but he won't eat. He has been doing either that or sitting in the corner of the room.

What is wrong with him? Why is this happening?

Please help.

I am certain no one knows for sure - why this is the first response.

The ONLY time I saw a Syrian arch her back dramatically, which seems to be what you described, was when Rainy had a serious neurological disorder (brain cancer?) and was dying. :( I pray it is something much less serious with yours. Keep him warm; try different foods; be sure he does not dehydrate. Nothing much else to do other than find and call a good hamster vet for advice; good ones will return your call with free advice on the phone. Ask at pet stores or shelters for recommendations.

He seems to have gotten better. This morning he was running around again like a normal hammie.

But what happened yesterday scared me. I think he's got everything he needs, he got a big cage, and I let him run around my room from time to time.

I really don't know what it was, or what I should do about it to prevent it from happening again (God forbid), but if you have any ideas, let me know.
