what sort of toys do u buy for them? and what do u have at the bottom of the cage to catch their poo/pee? Can u give me some info on gliders please.

When i first got my boy Scooter, i went to petsmart and got large bird toys, ones with plastic, wood, COW BELLS (not jingle bells, they get their toes caught in them, rope....just little fun stuff, But that got kinda expensive so i started making my own toys, outta fleece and plastic mesh stuff. I bought leather belts from the dollar store for little vines and bridges, Barrel of monkeys (Mine love them), army men but be sure to cutt off sharp weapons, ummm toilet paper rolls with a few sheets of tp left on them, shower curtain rings clearence at walmart or dollar store. HMMMMM they HAVE to have at LEAST two hours of playtime everynight. You should deffinatly get a childrens pup tent from like walmart or target, helps with bonding and playtime can be in a safe confined area. What diet will they be on? Do you know what diet they are on now? How much you feed them depends on the diet. They need a 50% protien 25% veggies and 25% fruit every night. They will need fresh or frozen fruits and veggies EVERYNIGHT, no canned they contain preservatives. HMMM any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

Im not sure what they are currently on but this is what I am going to be feeding mine:

Leadbeaters mix
Apple juice 1/2 cup
honey 1/2 cup
boiled egg 2 (leave shell on)
gerber baby cereal (dry flakes) 1/2 cup
wheat germ 1/4 cup
Rep - Cal 1 1/4 tsp
Herptivite 1 tsp

I will mix it all up in a mixer and freeze the leftovers

They will also get fruits and veggies as well as yogurt (occassionaly).

I will also have the happy glider (dry food)

I will be getting a 4 ft high x 20" wide x 20" deep for a starter cage for 2 gliders with lots of toys, branches, hammocks, and things to do as well as a wodent wheel.

The leadbeter's mix you have listed is not complete. It's lacking the baby food needed, the clcium is not correct, and you only use 1 egg. (the mixture you have listed was for when they high protien baby ceral was around, and now it is not, so we have BML)

2 jars of gerber chicken baby food
1 bottle gerber juice with yogurt
1 cooked egg
2 TSP Rep-Cal
1 TSP Herptivite
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup dry baby cereal

Blend well , turn off blender, It should be the pour into tupperware bowl, or ice cube trays and FREEZE, 1 cube in ice cube tray is approx. 2 tablespoons. It will freeze to the consistancy of ice cream.
This will feed 1 glider for approximately 1 month.

Do NOT mix the fruits and veggies in before freezing.

There are several ways to feed the BML plan. The one thing that is consistant, is that, it is designed to be fed with fruits, veggies, and insects.

The rule of thumb per glider is..

1 Tablespoon of the BML
1 Tablespoon of fruits
1 Tablespoon of veggies
Insects


Also, the happy glider food is not good at all for them .For one thing, it can throw off the nutritional values of the BML plan. Another thing is that gliders are sap suckers and extract the liquids from their foods. When there is not liquids, they cut their mouths and get lumpy jaw.

Are crickets alright to give to gliders? that would be my insect of choice and maybe moths. Can I give them pre killed mice?

you can give them pinkies i heard one before someone put a mouse and a glider together and after a week the glider ate the mouse but i wouldent do that also cickets are good also melies! they love them somtime si buy crekits and let them lose in the bathtun with my gliders and they go crazy for them

Suggiegirl you're talking about the BML diet. but she is using the wrong vitamins for the Leadbeater's mix, it requires Vionate and RepCal without Vitamin D3 and Phosphorus.

oh i got the cage when i got hoshiko. you can probably get them for $89 with free shipping if you're lucky, but I saw them selling for $104 plus $20 shipping. so it's $124 altogether, but still a good deal! Lots of room for them to jump.
