How bad is caffeine for dogs?

Well really what's happening is my dog likes pepsi, just like I do, but I'm wondering will some pepsi here and there hurt the dog? Does pepsi have anything bad like chocolate that can be fetal to the dog? I don't mean not drinking a whole can or something. Usually I only give her like 1/6th of a can or something. I've been doing this for few months, and doesn't seem bad so far really. I just thought before doing this, will it actually be bad? But I know pepsi isn't really healthy for humans either, but as long as doesn't cause any problems if taken by small amounts, then it's all ok really. BTW, my dog is about 50-55 lbs, chow mix, just in case if the size matters.

Oh btw, I've looked for this all of the web and haven't found it. So I'm thinking it's not exactly as bad as chocolate is, which can be found on google with one search.

All I know carbonated drinks like pepsi is a MAJOR no no for animlas but cannot remember why?!? Sounds dumb I know but I have heard it is big no no - god wish I could remember - will try and find out for you but I am sure someone else will know too.

If there isn't somewhere that says it's safe, then you should assume it's not safe! :) He probably shouldn't have Pepsi. But anyone who says they never give their dogs anything bad is lying.. who can resist those big puppy dog eyes when you're eating something tasty? Lol.

But yeah, I'd lay off the Pepsi :P

Chocolate contains theobromine that is toxic to dogs in sufficient quantities. This is a xanthine compound in the same family of caffeine, and theophylline.

Caffeine is bad for dogs, as is chocolate but that doesn't mean that small quantities are going to hurt them. My gsd has already had some of my chocolate doughnut this morning. I wouldn't recommend giving more than what you are already giving or doing it every day but it's not going to hurt him to give him a little Pepsi every now and then. Actually, grapes, raisins, and onions are MUCH more toxic than milk chocolate or soda.
