I recently did a position paper for my college argument class and found that certain companies were planning the cloning of pets. For instance, Clonaid, the much publicized company that announced it cloned the first human has a plan on their website to clone pets and in the description I quote:
"CLONAID™ will soon offer a new service: the cloning of pets to wealthy individuals who wish to see their lost pet brought back to life. This service will also be offered to the owners of racing horses.
CLONAID™ will be ready to start its animal cloning operation in the very near future."
How fair would it be (and safe) to clone Secretariat and have him race again? Do you really think racing farms would be truthful and tell the real genetic bloodlines of the horse before it is raced?
These are a few things I worry about not to mention if the racing farms decide to breed the clone and we dont really know yet what health problems come from cloning.
What does everyone else here feel about it?
