My friend's parakeet is the same, other than the health food. Is it kashi? My bird loves Kashi (the health cereal). anyways.. i told my friend to try fruit and veggie baby food, just get some (this should work if your bird is friendly) baby food, dip some on the end of your finger and offer it to the bird,
good luck

my tiels love veggies ..it's never enough with them..what I do is I cut up brocolies into a very small pieces (clean and dry it first) then I sprinkle that on top of their seeds.I do the same thing with carrot (make sure there is no water left in the carrot use paper towel) they love it ..sometimes I hang romance lectuce or kale inside their cage and when I came home it's all gone..they love cut up veggie though ..and once a week they get hardboiled egg (they are totally crazy about them) they don't like fruits ..i tried apple slice and put it on the floor many times they don't like it ..but I guess that is okay as long as they eat veggies ..

I've had my tiels for 13 & 14 years, the only fresh food they will eat is celery leaves & eggs (trust me I've tried them all.) While it is very important to serve fresh foods they won't always try them,as long as you are feeding a good seed mix and pellets they will thrive.

My tiel is 14 years old and has never eaten fresh food since i've had him, and is doing just fine. I've tried everything he would just looks at it and back off, so I've been giving him a good seed mix with pellets. Good Luck :)

Hi,
Mine aren't fruit and veggie enthusiasts either, tiels are rather picky. I've never seen one turn down corn, though. Mine will only eat fresh corn that has been microwaved for about 1.5 minutes, and cut from the cob (let cool before giving to tiel). Variety is important - mine will eat unsalted tortilla chips, whole wheat bread and toast, cooked rice, cheerios, corn flakes are a favorite, polenta when I have it, cooked oatmeal, broccoli sometimes, and alfalfa sprouts, sometimes. Just try these things. Variety is important. And do make sure you're feeding a good seed mixture (mine won't eat pellets, but do try them on yours).
Good luck,
Linda
P.S. Almost forgot - pasta is a HUGE hit with mine.
