I have a new, young southern flying squillel in my care which has thining hair. I adjusted his diet and didn't worry till I found the bald spot.

My other pets are chinchillas and i have had no problems with fur fungus.

I will make a vet appointment with my exotic vet tomorrow, but i have found that I often get better advice from people out in cyber space and am a help to my vet if i'm well informed.

Anyone out there have any ideas on his condition?

Thank you,

prudence

that's a tough one prudence. Do you have any pictures?
He could be overgrooming...that's all that comes to mind...keep us posted!

Unfortunatly, no. My digital camera is on the fritz and the cell phone photo just stinks.

The bald patch is right above his tail. The skin looks a little irritated. Up the center of his back the hair is thining to the neck. His head tail and stomach are normal.

I read somewhere that too many sunflower seeds can cause hairloss due to the oils. Do you have squirrels?
