I have a tiny, 2.5 gallon tank, at work that has been set up for about 6 months, maybe longer...it has live plants, two WCM, two bronze cory cats and some trumpet snails...everyone is fine except one cory continuosly gets white fuzzy fungus...i use pimafix and that patch goes away only another comes back in a different spot a few days later...the scales look healed from where the fuzz was before it just grows in a new little patch each time...he eats fine and acts fine, just has temporary fuzz syndrome...all tank levels are good and no one else is affected...whats up!!??!! should i move him to a tank at home? i'm afraid he'll introduce fungus even if i can't see it that day...i'd rather treat the small tank but if being in a 20gallon with community fish and other cories would be good i'll move him...sorry it's so long...thanks for any help...

sounds like you may not be treating the tank long enough. even if it goes away there still may be some in the water, which can (as you have learned) re-effect them. i dont think pimafix is too strong, so unless it says absolutely not to i would probably just treat it for a good solid week. read the directions to see if it gives a maximum treatment period or anything else that would mean you cant do what i am suggesting, i may be wrong.

The tank is too small for the fish- move them into the 20 gallon if you've got room. It should help prevent the condition.

could i move out the cory without affecting my other tank at home, that up til now has been fine? i have used the pimafix for 7+ days and followed the instructions to do a 25% water change on day 7, then repeat if still present...but it goes away and then comes back a few days after the treatment has been completed...is it bad to do it for a month or something? i don't like having to treat them that long but i wind up doing it over and over anyway...i really don't think the tank is too small because all of the fish are tiny right now and tank levels are great...i knew i would have to move out the cories if they grew up much but didn't think it was a problem yet...if this persists i'll take one out right now...what can you keep in a desktop aquarium? i thought that WCM and tiny cories would be ok...

if i took out both cories, they don't like being alone anyway...could i put an otto in there? or any loach or something really tiny as an adult? any suggestions...thanks

What does wcm stand for?
The cories could go together into the 20g...have you got any others in there? They do better in smal groups.
An otto wouldn't fit, neither would any loach I can think of.
Ghost shrimp might be ok, but apart from that...
You might be better off using the 2.5g as an isolation/hospital tank.

white cloud minnows...they are about 1.5" long the cories are each about 2"...i have corries in all of my tanks, so they'll fit in fine at home...so much for bottom feeders in that tank...maybe i'll just leave the minnows in there...with their snail friends
