whats that noise?!

Hello,

I let my new little hammy onto the bed last night and he was making a really wierd noise? A kid of grunting I think, infact im not sure if it was a noise or if he was stomping his foot, but I couldnt see it moving. But I could feel noise vibrating on the bed?

I don;t know if he was trying to tell me something!! :scratchch

ummm if you ham is making a grunting noise it's not normal. he could have signs of a respiratory infection. what bedding are you using?

well does he do it often if not then he might of had a tummt ache lol he should be ok but if he starts doing it regually then i would take him to the vets

He could have been doing it out of fear, a few of mine have made noises when they were new. He''ll probably settle down in a day or two.

Yeah, mine growls/hisses at me, er, he did. He just needs to be tamed first and you shouldnt hear it from him anymore.

I haven't heard him do it when he's just walking around or on his wheel etc... It was just that time when he was on bed. Im not really sure if it was him stomping his feet as I could feel the vibration slightly through the bed. Do they thump at all like rabbits??

I will check out his bedding tonight when I get home. Its mostly this soft shredded cloth that came with the starter kit, and one piece of this strange cotton wool stuff, which also came with it, (kind of grey colour).
