Well this evening we reached our decision with regards to purchasing a new hammie/hammies. We made a new home for the adorable little dark dwarf we told you about in our previous thread. We don't really know if we should call her black or grey but when we compare her to the Campbell's colors she is definitely most like the black.
[Aside question: since we have never seen a dark campbells in real-life are they commonly a muted black, almost like a very very dark grey. Our new gal is quite dark but her black stripe is still very distinct from the rest of her coloring. I know a pic would help but we are having some digital cam issues right now.]
Anywho it was a very tough decision but we thought we would just go with the one for now since for us 4 hammies right now seems like too many and we follow the "if you can't afford the vet you can't afford the pet" philosophy.
We got her home and set everything up for her (a bin-will post pics once cam issue resolved) and she just seemed so darn settled in and content we could not resist taking her out to play with us. We don't believe in just taking a hamster home and not allowing them to get used to their surroundings before we take them out but we could NOT resist. Things could not have gone better, she was such an angel, didn't nip once and came right in our hands and sat there and explored. She was very happy and willing to play and so were we!
I can't wait to post pics to share with you all, she is the most adorable little girl in the whole world and we cannot get over how tiny she is as she is still quite young. So help us welcome our little Lola to her new home and to the forum we so greatly enjoy being members of!! Pics to come VERY soon, we promise!

Well, when one is rescuing a grimy abandoned hamster other considerations have to come into effect. You know. Better a loving safe caring place without ideal vet capabilities than with an irresponsible person who does not care for them or want them.
