Her name was Honey. She was really special for so many reason to me. To begin with, she was like reject in the pet store. She wasnt on display and the clerks didnt want her to be sold due to her wild personality( she killed one hamster already in front of me). I was introduced to her because for some reason, the clerk just wanted to get rid of her; if she had'nt she would have been put to sleep. So I took her home with me with along with another hamster.
She was really cool because she was farousious. She seems to scratch anything that tries to touch her. But as the days go by, she began to like me and adapt to me fairly quick. She was happy after a few weeks of buying her. She started to use the wheel, enjoy licking my fingers, etc. She was one of the cutest thing I've ever seen, even more than my girl.
But things went bad after I accidently droped the cage. She bled through her nose and started to make wierd hickups. After the incident, she looked very depressed and never even touch the wheel anymore. All she did was sleep and when she wakes up, she starts her day with more disturbing hickups.
Through out the month, she would get sick and eventually recover. But that hickup kept on getting worst. But the last three days was the worst. She was just weak like a person who havent had any sleep for days. But just 5 hours ago she was lifeless. She passed away.
It makes me feel better thinking I did a great thing. She had another chance in life when the moment I saw her. She was grown as a reject in the pet store, and bred as a real person in my house. It seems in the few months when she was with me, she finally felt what life was about. R.I.P Honey.

ummmmm i'm sorry for your loss and, though it may sound a tad harsh, if your hamster is bleeding from the nose, has been dropped and is showing symptoms of obvious damage and illness, she needed a vet, badly.

I am sorry that what happened happened, but it was sort of your fault that she passed....
Not to sound mean also, but, she really needed a vet. As you know, hickups in hamsters shouldn't happen and bleeding through the nose also is a terrible sign something is wrong! You had about month to bring Honey to the vet, but I have no idea why even calling a vet didn't cross your mind...
Sorry about Honey, but she would have still been here if you had brought her to the vet after the cage dropping OR by not dropping the cage in the first place.... :(

I know. I felt so depressed that I didnt do anything to help her. It makes me cry knowing the whole month she was suffering with some kind of sickness. I hated myself for knowing that. Its all my fault.

What would they have done if they don't have any small pet vets?
I have NONE of those vets nearby.

if there are no vets around to treat the animal you should not have the animal. imagine yourself being stranded in an area where there are no doctors and you are violently ill. it is an unfair death.

It doesnt do any good to say "you should've taken her to a vet" I'm sure that just makes the person feel worse...Nothing can be done now anyway.

First of all, rescuing rejects and injured animals is always most rewarding.
As for your mistake, LEARN FROM IT and then rescue a few more animals who need help. That is how you can make out for this. :)

I just burried her right now. I placed her inside a nice box with all the things she loved: crackers, pallet from a rose, pumkin seed, and my warmth. Rest in Peace, Honey. Im going to post a picture of her later. You'll see how adorable she was.

Sorry I yelled at you.... I guess you know that what you have done was wrong. But wait awhile before you get a new hamster like a week or two. I got my second one in such a hurry (1 week after the death of Kiba) and he ended up to be not such a good hamster because he had a snaggle tooth....
I just want to know: How did you drop the cage? Were you carrying it when it dropped? Was it a wire cage or an aquarium tank? Sorry again! :(

i'm just curious as to how his "snaggle tooth" made him "not such a good hamster"? ugh. poor guy didn't have a chance. do humans become "not such good people" because they have an illness or defect?
sorry, that comment just angered me a tad.

I know.. talk about discrimination!

I didn't mean it that way... I just meant that who wants a hamster that has something wrong with them? I know that I would like a healthy hamster.... Plus, he was lethargic. And that wasn't really discrimintation...

And I am NOT saying that ALL sick hamsters are bad ones, I am just saying the truth, do you really want to cry and worry over a sick hamster instead of having a happy healthy one!? :(

who would want a hamster who has something wrong with them? a dedicated pet mom/dad, that's who. wow, what would you do if your child developed a problem or was born with a disability? sure, all parents want healthy children and all people owned by animals want healthy animals, but we don't always get what we want in life and this doesn't give us a reason to throw away something that is "imperfect". nobody "wants" to cry and worry over an animal, but those who care take the bad with the good.
someone once told me something, and i think you need to reflect back on just how important it is: "beauty lies in imperfection".
the animal certainly could care less if you were "imperfect" and will give its love and loyalty in either case. personally, i feel we owe animals the same, and i don't think i'm alone in this. :)
maybe you should change your signature to "cherish every day with your pets...until they become ill or imperfect. who wants that?".

Well said dwankrista. You're completely right, and no, you're not alone in your opinions. :)
