So I was picking my son up from a mowing job. As we loaded the lawn mower into the truck a Parakeet landed on the handle. It practically hopped into my son's hands. We quickly drove to get a container to put the tiny thing in. (shoebox)
Never having a need want or desire for a winged pet-well not to mention the 2 cats, 4 kids, 1 hamster, 1 cute, but deranged electrician and assorted fishes that it would be co-habitating with.
We immediately went on a quest for a cage. Lo and Behold! on the corner of my street is a lady selling a brand new bird cage with toys included. My first thought- Oh crap this is the lady that lost the bird!
No, No she assured us-and something about an unfortunate accident, involving not watching where she sat. <sigh>
After 3 weeks of flyers and watching the paper and milk cartons for missing bird notices. I guess he is ours.
So now I am the proud owner of a lovely green Parakeet just about 2 months old. He dances to disco music, does not care for Elvis, and chirps, chatters and screams away for showtunes. <sigh> I have a flaming parakeet! I love it!
The cats are content with the new "kitty TV" cage. The hamster and the fish are rather blase about the Bird. I am still keeping my eye on the electrician.
Oh and and the Parakeets name? Murray, after the lawn mower
