All I know is, when I got Kiba, the first time I put her in her cage, she checked out the new place and everything, but she went on her wheel right away. She didn't have one in her tank at the pet shop, but she started running on it.

When I got Kichi, he checked out the new place, went to sleep, and continued sleeping throughout the week. Never touched the wheel.

When I got Opie, he checked out the new place, rolled in the chinchilla sand, scurried everywhere, then went to sleep. Has been awake frequently, but hasn't touched the wheel once!

Are males lazier than females?!?! If my calculations are correct, Kiba, the only female one, was the only one that loved her wheel.... The males haven't even tried it! Has Opie not gotten used to it yet? Do you think he will go on the wheel this week? Are any of your dwarves like this? Thanks! :)

it is considered that males are the lazier of the species but of course, it always just depends on the animals and their environment.

Also, females run like crazy when they are in season or about to be in season because in the wild, thats when they'd be out running like mad to find a male....

On average my males are lazier than the females.

But they do use the wheels and are active. I am sure your new guy will too in time.
