okay so my hamster sleeps all the time. she wakes up around 6-7..takes a nap in between and wakes up at like 11-12..then sleeps again until 6 in the afternoon the next day.
she is a baby..so maybe thats it, but i have like no time to tame her at all. shes always sleeping.
i did get to play with her for 15 minutes in the rolly ball at 7..and she rolled around my whole house checkin it out and stuff..it was so cute..
but then she went in her cage and fell asleep..
then woke up at 11 and i finally got to hold her..and she didnt bite me at all...she came right into my hand and walked around my arms. she seems to really like being held close to me. its so cute.

she has only bit my brother...because i guess shes not used to him..and my brother was trying to move her food bowl when i was at work..and she freaked out and bit him.

it seems that whenever i come home too she wakes up. like when i get home from work at 7..it seems like shes sleeping..and then i come in the room and about 10 minutes later shes up and looking at me.

i dunno i just think she sleeps a whole bunch. i babysat gerbils once, and they were way more playful than this.
is this just the way hamsters are..or is she sleeping a lot?

Jess19, not most hamsters are nocturnal, ALL are. They sleeo during the day for the most part. I am sure that your hamster is awake at night when you are asleep, like at 3:00am or something. Good luck and can you post pics?! :D

Mine is definitley nocturnal,he's(Milo)up at around 9.00pm for a general nosey around for about ten mins then back to bed,10.30pm he really wakes up and wants sttention, then through the night usually 2.00 to 3.00 am he's at his most active time, going mad on his wheel etc.I'm usually watching tv,so let him play for 10 to 15 mins in his ball.Let him out to run about the bed etc. He's still quite young,5 months old. Older hammies sleep more.

I know hamsters are nocturnal ,but I've had some that woke at 8.00 pm and some that didn't wake 'till midnight, they're all different. They only usually wake in daytime to go to the toilet or gather some food.

my hammys nocturnal, she keeps on running on the wheel at midnight -.- its too annoying! she start to run and then she start to head back and then stop. 3 seconds later she does the same thing. then the same thing. then over and over again. once she was running so fast that when she started to head back, she flew off to the bedding! lol.
