Not out of anger, and only people she knows, but it hurts just the same. Does anyone have advice on how to make her stop nipping people? She can actually draw blood sometimes...

She's a pitbull, what do you expect.

Please ignore Binky. I'm sure someone will be able to give you advice shortly.

There are people on here more experienced than I but this is what I have heard. When she nibbles away on you or anyone tell her no biting and then put an appropriate toy in her mouth, as she nibbles away on that make a fuss over her so she know's and will evenutally get the idea that its what she is supose to chew on. If she happens to be teething you can soak one of those rope toys for dogs in water and put it into the freezer, and then give that to her to chew on, it will help to soothe the gums and pain from teething.

Asta gave good advice. Also, if that doesn't work, just ignore her entirely when she starts misbehaving and nipping. Only give her lots of praise and positive attention when she is being good. Pit bulls love to please their people and hate to be ignored or recieve negative attention (saying "No bite!" in a loud, commanding voice should startle her).

I am currently training a friends pit bull and he does the same thing. I have been doing just what "asta" and "pippin" have suggested and it is taking a little while but he is getting the point and doing very well. So keep at it and I am sure things will work out for the best.

Peace, :i2:

Pitbulls do bite or nip when young.I have 3 pittys 2 female 1 male.I had got my male when he was 8 weeks old.We started to nip bite when he was playing and he did draw blood. If yours is a male female how old ?If he/she is old enough I would have it spayed or neutered and use a water bottle to spray her when it bites or plays to rough.I would help alot to take her to obedince or puppy socialization classes.

Is she purebred?
How old?
Is she pedigree?
What lines
If you could give us more information that would help.Do you kennel it?Does she have enough toys? Thanks

All puppies bite...:D. It's how they play. We just need to redirect their choice of "toys".

You've been given some good advice.

I'm just going to add a link that I have copied and use to hand out to people who adopt puppies from us.

It has some really good advice. Good luck with your precious pit baby. They are an especially smart breed of dog and should catch on quickly once you get past the stubborness.
