What is it exactly? I know it has to do something with teaching kids to take care of farm animals, but thats about it.. and what does 4h stand for? is it like heart, hands...and something else..
is it in every state, and what do people do there and how much it costs?

it costs NOTHING. ZIP ZILCH ZERO. There are different animal clubs, and different community clubs. 4h stands for heart hands head and health. yes it is in every state, I think. where do you live?

well you might have one, might not. just depends. also a lot of barns do them. i have a only horse focused 4-H out of my barn. we do lots of shows and things, it's extremly fun. we have a show on Friday actually, wish me luck!
anyway just check out http://www.4-h.org/ and you should find some more info.
also it doesn't cost anything to join but it can cost a little along the way, with show entrie fees, trailering fees etc. etc.
like when we do horseshows hosted at our barn we have to donate 5-10 $ (not that much) and work at the concession stand half day.

yeah we do have a lot of fun. good times. it's also wonderful because 17 year olds hang out with 7 year olds - you don't get that a lot, but you can make a lot of good friends that are WAY older or WAY younger than you.
anyway (hence the name) i ride an appaloosa named Hilton (aka: Infamous, for show. or That's My Boy, old show name). he's wonderful little boy, he was abused though - used to sit in a pasture all day for weeks and weeks, was ridden about once every three months for 15 minutes and spent the rest of the time in a 1/2 acre pasture. he's come really far though since last August, we have him jumping 2'6 verticles and it's wonderful!

We have appallosa at our barn, he's soooooo sweet, definitely my favorite horse, i only rode him once, but I loved his jumping and canter, although when he trotted it seemed at bit like canter.
