Hi, my name is Jennifer.

(I posted this on the introduction page also, sorry if you saw it twice).

I've always had cats in my life, but I just recently got a 6-7 week old kitten from a lady that takes in ferral kittens. My kitten, Zip, is very loving and affectionate and was well socialized.

I have a 2 year old resident female cat, Zulu, that is quite big! The two cats, both females get along GREAT. The only problem is that Zulu plays too hard and nips at the kitten's stomach and back when playing. I have to keep them separated a lot, and keep a close eye on them when they play. The kitten will keep going back for more.

About a week and a half after I had the kitten she got sick and had to spend 3 days at the vet. I think it was from the big cat nipping at it's belly. The kitten tested negative for all the general cat diseases and is home as of yesterday. She's very frisky, eating very well and seems 100%. However, I'm still afriad big cat will hurt her.

They're precious when they sleep together. Zulu acts just like a mother cat and cuddles the little one.

How worried should I be about Zulu nipping the kitten. To me it looks like it would hurt, but the kitten just lets out a little yelp, jumps up and taunts Zulu to come do it again.

One other thing... how can I get rid of this little cat as a cursor?

HI! And welcome!

Some cats are just gluttons. Our Tomcat, George, lets our dog Lila chew on him all the time and he gets mad at us for petting him too close to his head. Eventually, George has his fill and he'll slap at her, but that may or may not be after she's dragged him down the driveway by his tail, or just sat on him for no reason.

I'm sure if your Zulu really hurts the kitten, the kitten will let her know it. They have to establish their hierarchy. And the kitten that acts tough instead of timid toward hte established cat will earn more respect. Be sure to love on Zulu as much as the kitten, don't scold her for nipping hte kitten, but pull her away and hold her and pet her awhile to remind her what a good cat acts like.
