hello, me again. i'm planning to rehouse my two largest gold fish:disappoin in my aunts pond when the weather warms up a bit, this would leave me with 1x 2 1/2 inch black moor goldfish and 1 golden weather loach. My tank is 18x15x12 with a fluval 3( due to the goldfish) and an airstone, plus a live plant (water wisteria i think).my current temp is 22 degrees , ph 7.5 .ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0 and nitrate is around 25. ( i'll be adding more plants to try and reduce my nitrate)
I have been reading all my books on aquaria and would quite like to try keeping some zebra danios.do you think this would be ok? in all my books and on the net i have read that they are ok in cooler temperatures and my tank water rarely falls below 20 degrees even in winter and i dont have a heater ( i am willing to get one if nessesary but i am concerned about my remaining fish getting too hot!.
Also would my black moor get his fins nipped? he,s a peaceful fish but i'm worried he might see the danios as a tasty snack!
Also i wondered if i should buy a smaller filter? my current filter is set on the lowest flow rate so my fish dont get blasted across the tank but maybe even this would be too strong for danios? my black moor doesnt seem to have any trouble with it.
Anyway sorry for rambling on any help is greatly appreciated!

Zebra danios should be ok. When you get them from the fish shop they'll probably be in tropical water, though, so spend some time acclimatising them.
Having said that...you need a tank upgrade. Black moors get to the size of grapefruit (although the biggest one I've seen was nearly as big as a watermelon...no, that's not a fishy tale, lol).
A 70 gallon would be the absolute minimum. You could put them in the pond, although black moors aren't so suited to the outside as single-tail fish.
You could put some zebra danios in your tank (it's 15 gallons), but I've found that they don't do so well in smaller surroundings. Could give it a try, though- others have had succeded. If you do, don't worry abot the fluval3. My 15 gallon currently has a fluval4 and a UG plate with an air uptake and a Aquaclear 301 powerhead. The danios haven't complained yet :D.

hmm thanks for the info, i really cannot afford a new tank and currently dont have room for anything larger ...i'll probably end up having to re-home mordred as well:disappoin :guilty: .the same aunt as mentioned above has a large tank (3-4 ft i think, dont know how many gallons tho) with a couple of fairly big goldfish in it, but she's putting those fish in her pond too (dont worry it's a BIG pond ,the fish she has in it bred last year!)so i dunno. anyway ive got some time to think about it for now .cheers

3-4 foot would probably mean anything from 30-50 gallons. Good upgrade size.
