Hi everyone,

Can I give my hamster Quaker Oats, made up with milk? I wasnt sure if he could have it.

Its for Ray, he was 2 years old on Monday so I am treating him to lots of goodies everyday this week. Things he has never tried. Yesterday he had a grape and loved it. His eyes seems to have calmed down now which is a relief too.

Its best not to give cows milk.

Try and get some puppy/kitten milk like Lactol, Whelpie or Cimicat. I use Lactol when i give my lot porridge.

Or even the pre-made cat milk by Whiskas and Felix would be better.

Glad Roy is feeling better now.

i also buy unsweetened soy milk for all of my critters and they adore it. i give it with warm oats, warm rice and oat baby cereal, soak wholegrain breads in it, give it on its own and even soak lab blocks in it should one of my little ones not be feeling well. if you can't get any of what lmdh mentioned or soy milk quaker oats with warm water is a favorite with my boys as well. :)

Ah brilliant. I will try it with warm water first, see what he thinks but I will try and get some special milk for him too. I want to get some special fibre into his diet cos he has been having more damp poo recently so I want to see if it helps. Ive been trying to find some Probiotics to give him to see if that helps but I cant find any

Thanks guys.

for icky poos i've also found that adding some flax seeds or even ground flax to the oatmeal works wonders. :)

For probiotics I use Avipro Plus from here http://www.noahs-cupboard.co.uk/detail.asp?catno=4&pnum=A2A4Z

Or Pets At Home sell Pro-C which actually quite good.
