Ok.I've got my old gerbil tank filled up, filter and heater running. It's looking boring at the moment, but a trip to the lfs tomorrow should solve that...
There's no possibility of fishless cycling, unfortunately- ammmonia isn't available in the UK, apparently (unless you buy it in wholesale quantities :( )
Anyway...the fun stuff. I'm adding the contents of my 15gal:
2 zebra danios
4 cories
1 psycopathic kribensis (well...he's a big softie really :D)
I'm bringing up the danio levels to 7 or so, and getting another kribensis. I was going to add 2 more cories, but they're getting on well. Last time I added one they didn't speak (ok, I'm being stupid now) to each other for a couple of months. Anyway...I'll see what happens.
As for other fish, the ones in mind are:
Pictus cats
Angels
Peacock spiny eel
Electric yellow cichlid
I'd like a CAE but the tank's not really suitable.
The problems I can forsee are mainly the angels eating the danios, and the elc having an all-out war with the kribs.
Any ideas?

Gotta love kribensis.
I'd be much more worried about pictus cats eating the danios, tho the angels may also. if the cories are small the pictus may also try to eat them, which will most likely end up with the pictus cats dying from the cories horns.
the other african cichlid may also be a problem.

Kribs are amazing.
The cories aren't small, luckily, so it should be ok. I hadn't thought about the pictus picking on the danios. And the cichlid factor...
Hmmm. (Right now I need several spare tanks more than ever ;) ). If the tank had heavy planting, which I was planning anyway, what are the chances of krib/lab problems?
Danios are my main problem. I don't want to introduce any fish with a high risk of eating them, so I guess angels may have to wait another day. Could give the pictus a go- I always thought that they were fairly peaceful?

i definatly would not add yellow labs to that mix i have a fiffty five gallon of just yellow labs some cories and a pleco although there fine with the cories they can become nasty to each other at times wich means nasty aggesion to other fish hence stress that danios may not be able to handle :)

Well...I went to the lfs for some rock and plants. It's actually looking like a fish tank now :D.
Anyway, I've added the entire contents of the 15gal. I know the tank's only been up for a day or so, but the problems I've been having in the 15 mean that the benefits probably outweigh the risks. I added cycle, although the bottle's a bit past its prime.
They're looking great at the moment, although a close eye's going to have to be kept on them.
So, to the future:
I'm going to leave them for a few days to monitor the rise in ammonia levels. If it's not too drastic, the next addition will be 5 zebra danios, possibly followed by more at some point in the future.
The lfs has just run out of kribs, so I'll have to wait a while. However, they have got some labs in stock. As none of us are convinced that it's certainly going to work, I'll see what happens. After doing a fair amount of research, it seems that they're like most other cichlids- some are nice, some are nasty. Although I can't help that feel that some people might have bought a harem of auratas by mistake.
I'll get some pictures up soon, but basically what I'm doing is creating a very rocky enviroment in there, with plenty of foliage and hiding places. In this kind of setup, wouldn't there be enough space for the kribs and the labs to create territories without too much trouble?

How many labs and kribs are you going to get.

There's already a krib in there, who's getting a female. I was probably going to add a pair of labs, as there's not really enough tank room to start playing around with male/female ratios.

LOL! Did you do that? It's an idea...but I don't think the gerbs would appreciate it :D.
Anyway...I added 4 danios and a couple of labs (after much consideration) yesterday. The labs are very small, and everyone's getting on fine. If any problems do occur, I'll move them.
Thanks everyone.
