Dwarf hamsters

I have a thread in the rat forum about me rescuing 4 more rats, I will also be rescuing a male dwarf hamsters. He has diabetes in his background, his mother and a sibling has it. WHat is a good diet to feed? I want to make a good homemade diet. What should I never feed him, even as a treat? All fresh fruits and dried fruits. What else?

I would assume starches (corn, potatoes) and refined carbohydrates (Cheerios for example), each of which get quickly turned into sugar.
