I just got back from getting my chihuahuas last set of shots today. After it was done I was asking about treats that would be good for her and to my surprise she said carrots and apples. What, has anyone else heard this or better yet has anyone tried this?I am going grocery shopping tomorrow and figured I would pick some up and try it out,she said that Gretchen might would enjoy those baby carrots or I could either get regular sized ones and use the peeler to give her carrots in peeled form.:apple:

carrots are a great snack. small amounts of apples are fine, too (don't give the core, though). i also really like rice cakes and green beans.

My dog goes ballastic for carrots and apples. My dad shares his apple with him when Trev is at home. His fave are Mcoons :)

My boy used to love carrots but went mad for apples. I used to eat half then give him the other half! Aww I miss him :(

DO NOT FEED THE PITS OF APPLES they are very dangerous if ingested.

My dog loves carrots, but when my family went apple picking a while back we left a few bags of apples in the kitchen. My pup grabbed one out of the bag when no one was around, took it into the living room and chewed on it for a while, .. then she assumed that the bag was there for her personal use and tried to snag apples whenever it suited her :)

Brenna will eat apples, but not carrots. Angel will pretty much eat anything, but she truly does love fruit and vegetables. Her favorite is actually peaches, I get them canned in 100% juice and split a can with her. Brenna actually seems to prefer them also.

We have a dog who loves to fetch, and sometimes instead of giving him a tennis ball, we give him an apple. He loves them. He doesn't really eat too much of them, he drinks the juice. Its a pain to clean up off the floor though. My dogs don't like carrots though.

Charlie loves carrots. I have to cut them into little circles for else she tried to eat it all in one go and ends up choking. She also loves mushrooms and cabbage. We're not too keen on the effect cabbage has on her though - pee ew!
Peas are a great one too. Put frozen peas in the water bowl after a long run or when they need to cool down. Ok to start as tehy float but when they sinkt ot he bottom and the dog has to dunk for them so funny as dogs cannot hold their breath so there are bubbles everywhere - hilarious!!!

Forgot to add any form of fruit seed is poisonious as they contain natural arsonic - not enough in one piece of fruit to do us any harm but.......two cups of apple seeds alone (ok a lot of seeds in one go) has enough arsonic to kill a human so you can imagine what a few seeds can do to creatures like mice and rats and smaller dogs.
