the bin cages work great. my three campbell boys were in a huge bin at first but then i swapped them over into a tank as i prefer being able to watch them from the sides rather than having to look down. here's a good link on bin cages: http://www.petwebsite.com/article_read.asp?id=256&title=Make%20A%20Homemade%20Hamster%20Bin%20Type%2 0Cage
dwarves make wonderful little friends and i adore my trio. if you have any other questions feel free to ask. :)

If you use a plastic tub, you have GOT to add holes to it for air, because otherwise, there isn't enough fresh air, and there's not any ventilation for heat.
If you can't have a cage or a tank, and aren't able to convert a tub, you might want to rethink having a ham.
Out of curiosity, what are your father's objections to a tank or cage? Is it room or smell? Because a tub will have the same problems. And if you maintain any of them well enough, smell should never be a problem.

my dad just has something against them, not cus of smell, becuase i have had like 8 tanks in my house but most of them are loaned out and are too small
and thanks alot for the bin information and site, now i can get one and convert it!
