Someone was so kind to show me how to post these pictures on this forum of COCO,]
also can anyone tell me why is it that coco likes to poop in his little house..He sleeps in there and does his business in there too.. His cage is as clean as anything..Maybe I should go and get him a litter box they have for hamsters..LOL..

coco is lovely! hamsters will do their business where they sleep quite often, unfortunately. if you are interested in trying to litter train the best thing to do is watch for where he likes to go most and put the box there. you can also place any feces you see in the box. unfortunately, i've yet to completely litter train a ham, though my boys will urinate in the litter box 99% of the time. they do switch places often so you may have to shift the box around. :)

Thank you very much for some of those tips for the litter box. I think I will try to get him to use it instead of us sleeping quarters.. I don't like the fact that he is sleeping with his feces. Here is another question,,,Is cucumber ok to give to him as a treat? and if so is there any other veggie that is ok,,And how about apples?

i bought both of mine litter boxes and one uses it occassionally the other doesnt at all. what i generally do is just clean out the nest area every couple of days so it doesnt get smelly from them going to the bathroom there. hamsters actually use some of their feces to digest their food so need some of it hence another reason why they go to the bathroom in their food pile. you can try it but my advice is dont spend a lot of money on the litter pan and litter. also coco is extremely beautiful i love the coloring. good luck with everything :o

Thanks,, I didn't know they use their feces to digest,,YUCK!, That's what I've been doing,,cleaning out his sleeping quarters every other day,, I don't know how much the litter pan is and didn't think you had to buy litter too.. Maybe I'll just stick to cleaning out his house.. Thanks again and also thank you for the compliment,, we also think coco is cute and that's the first thing my daughter saw when we went to pick out a hamster,,the color!

i actually just use the same bedding in the litter box but move it to the pee corner. they've been using it quite religiously. :)
as for the cucumber it's okay in small quantities as cucumber is high in water. apples are great treats for them. most fruits and veggies are great but stay away from veggies such as iceburg lettuce as they are void in nutrition and way too high in water content. carrots are great, as are bell peppers and such. if you take a look around the net there are some great lists. since coco is a syrian your options are very wide as you do not have the diabetes worries of dwarf owners like myself. i also feed my boys oatmeal made with soy milk, wholegrain breads, little bits of boiled egg, lean chicken, tuna, oat and rice cereal, and all types of baby food. it's fun to mix it up a bit and see which your ham will like the best. :) good luck!

I'm going to try some cucumber tonight,,I also want to try some cherrios,, I'd rather give them veggies and fruit then those store bought treats.. It'll be fun seeing what kind he likes and doesn't like..

i had bought a litter tray that snaps on the cage and i bought some special litter that is suppose to make them go there...sometimes they use it sometimes they do like i said so what i did i converted it into a sand bath and filled it with chinchilla sand..they like to go in there and play....and as what dwan said theres so much u can feed them as far as fresh stuff...my hamsters go crazy for cheerios and hard boiled egg...u should try to egg sometimes its crazy to watch them...i give mine broccolli on a regular basis too and throw in tomatoes cucumbers and other veggies every so often
