He is not a dog. He will not lick your face.
Mine see me from their bins and start hoping around on two legs wanting to be picked up and explore. I pick them up, kiss them on the nose, they walk around my face and hands with total trust. They also come when called: they hear my voice and run over to me. I am certain at least some of them recognize their names not just sounds. All that is good enough for me.

My two twins will lick my fingers all the time. It kind of tickles. :) They are by far the most "affectionate" of my ham's, but then, I've had them since they were newborns, and have been handling them since they were about 2 weeks old.

I have had a few lick, occasionally, my fingers. But maybe they smelled something nice there!

Got our hamster almost two weeks ago, doesn't bit, just nibbles at your finger,,I say he is giving kisses,,sits and eats in your hand,,sleeps in my daughters pocket.. All this is affection and no they won't show it like dogs do,,but they do show it in their own way..OH he also loves to be rubbed under his chin..And that's only two weeks of getting to know us.. I'm sure yours shows you affection, you just haven't figured out yet how he or she shows it.. Maybe just sitting in your hand or on your shoulder is his way..
