Here is a bin I made with my dad, it houses 5 male campbells. Just a word, those hole are MUCH too big. You'll want a drill and not a compass like drill for the holes. ;)

I have bins for mice, they're about the same size, with drilled holes, but doesn't have a level like that bin does. I'll get those pics up in a mo'. :)

Ok, here's the mouse bin. I have two identical to this, and two smaller, also identical in format.

Do you think I would need a lid if i made for ,y syrian hamster patch? I dont think he would be able to get out because hes fat.:) Im not very good at drilling holes neither as all our tools are crap.

Personally, I didn't need a topper. I will be making one this summer, because there is a possibility of large dogs being there. ;) So yes, they are fat and can't reach the top!

Sure, I mean, if you have no larger animals around, I'd go topless. (ha ha) I just have to have lids because of a) the rats b) the dogs and c) the cat. :)

Well, you might still might want a top... Because, hamsters DO climb up the water bottles and can escape that way. I saw a hamster in the pet shop that was climbing up its water bottle and without a top there, it definately would have escaped.
Also, how many Syrians are you planning to put in the bin cage? You do know that when the babies get older (I *think* 6 weeks) that they have to be separated from eachother. Do you have enough cages for that, or are you promising friends hamsters, I hope that they won't go to the pet shop! :(
