This is my hamster Rupert in his bin cage that I built. He's gotten quite comfy. As some of you know, when my hamster Harvey passed on the pet store gave me Rupert because they had too many hamsters and not enough space. He has been quite healthy in comparison, and a great pet. :)

I was wondering if there are any habitats that they sell in stores that I could let Rupert have. This summer I am going on vacation (more on that on my other post!) and I may need to consolidate his living space a bit. I may be able to bring the bin, but I am not sure. Any advice would be great!

Anyways, on to the cute stuff:

Well, depends on how long you'll be gone for. If you can bring the bin, I'd do that, but if you can't... trying to think of a good travel cage... Well, you could make a smaller bin for the trip, yeah? That's what I'm doing and have done in the past. :)

BTW, he's cute!!!

Anyone ever had a CT3? I might be able to pick up a used one for $20 and was wondering if it'd be worth it.

I have a Crittertrail3 it's a great cage. I wouldn't suggest using it for the drive though. You don't want Rupert to fall off of the second or third tier of the cage.
You may want to get e few small expansions for it. I know you're confining his space but you don't want to down size him too much if you don't have to.

Omigee, such a cutie!

As far as vacation goes, I personally think that it would be better to leave Rupert at home. Bringing him with might be too stressfull for him.

I personally don't like CT3's, though I've never owned one. They seem very flimsy and cheap to me.

:) Nah, it wasn't for the trip. I may try to add a second level to the bin cage then. I really wish I could leave him with my parents, but they will be going out of town for a week and no one would be here to take care of Rupert. I will definitely buy some Dri-Tail just in case. Before I leave I'll talk to my parents again to make sure they are definitely leaving.

The Crittertrail cages actually hold up real well, I hear many peopel on this forum say they are flimy or cheap. Do you people whip your hamster cages at the wall or something? (kidding obviously)...
