Hey everyone I need some advice on this. I have 2 robos, both about 4.5 months each.

Well when I'm cleaning up my hamsters' cage, I'd put them into a small container about 8inches in diameter temporarily. But a couple of days ago, one of my hammies managed to jump out of the container and sort of "ran" off the table about 2 1/2 ft high. As I was afraid it might runaway, I quickly catched it and put it back into the container. I can see it shivering as if in shock. Then the other did the same:( . Now they seem to be afraid whenever I go near their cage.

What should I do? Leave them alone for the time being? Please help.. Thanks :o

First off, if they can jump out of it, why'd you put them back in there?! Common sense people! :/

Leave them alone for a couple of days, then try to pick them up again.

I suggest getting a small holding cage from the pet store with a lid for cage cleaning time. They're real cheap and help a lot. (Robo's are quick and hoppers). I let them be left alone for a day or two and when you try to reintorduce your self to them do it slowly. And have treat ready. Give them positive reienforcement for going to your hand. They'll come around.

I put mine in a 38qt tub when they're not in the cage, OR (and it has to be clean, obviously) in the bathtub. They love running around that. Or get a ball and let them run around while you are cleaning.

As for the jumpiness, give them a few days to recuperate from the "adventure" they took, and then let them get reacquainted with you. You probably won't have to tame them all over again, but treat them as if you were taming them. Be cautious, gentle, and not jumpy until they come to you.
