Can anyone offer any help about hatching a robin egg? We called the museum and a woman said to wrap it in a towel, and put it in a shoe box with water in a dish so it doesn't dry out. It is sitting on a small oil heater on level one is this alright? or any adivce?

Do you know how old the egg is? Its really hard if you dont know, theres a process used with domestic birds called candling, where you check the baby inside the egg, anyways the humidity has to be right I'm sure other factors play a role, what I advice is looking up " wild bird rehabs in (insert city name), canada", on google, when you find one, call them and ask for advice.

Yea we took it in the dark closet and checked it with a flashlight. There is a yolk and a tiny black thing and it kept moving to the light. do i have to rotate the egg? maybe every 4-6 hours?

You're more than likely not going to be able to do this by yourself. If at all possible, you need to contact a wildlife rehabilitator.

I found these numbers online:

If they're not close to you, I'd give them a call and see if they know anyone who is.
