Things are finally going all right. I haven't posted in the horse section yet which is odd considering I live on a horse farm. My family raises trains and shows American Saddlebreds, by the way.

Anyway, so many things are happening that I just had to say something. First of all we had a baby filly born last saturday. She is bay and beautiful. The only problem is the mare wasn't making any milk. We have had to feed her every two hours and will have to continue until the mare can support her.

Next, any day now I am going to get a gorgeous palomino quarter horse gelding.

Thirdly, my dad is finally going to get a halter on my black yearling. Now I can start working with her and getting her ready to show in-hand later on this year. She won't have a chance in the ring against our grey yearling (who is fan-freaking-tacular!), but I plan on giving him and my sister a run for their money.

I just thought I would get that out. I have been bubbling over with excitement on a few of these things and needed to vent a little bit, in a good way.

Tee hee. Well, pics may be a while. In the mean time, I will tell a bit more.

As I said before, I live on a horse farm. I have about 40 horses including a few -ney ponies. I still haven't gotten my quarter horse. The lady has to get her truck fixed or back from someone, and our farm truck is kind of out of commission for the time.

Personally, I can't do much with a horse. I am scared to death to ride anything but my 24 year old gelding. I have done everything with that dear, from lead line to three-gaited. I like to drive, but I don't have anything to drive. I'm hoping that my sister gets her pony driving soon, I would love to sit behind that freak. About the only thing I "can" do now is work with the broodmares and yearlings.

I know you are thinking, "what do you need to work with broodmares for?" (or maybe you are not, but that doesn't really matter) But I am the only one in my family that can go up to any horse on the place and catch him/her. I can pick up all four legs of any of my broodmares in the field without them batting an ear. The only thing I have to worry about in the field is my nag. My beautiful horse, turned out to be "too dangerous" and "untrainable" (psht! yeah right!) even for my kick ass trainer father. She is over protective of me around the other horses unless I keep her from doing it, which I do for the most part.

This year we have three killer yearlings. One for each of my sibling to show. My eldest sister gets the shockingly beautiful grey colt. My middle sister gets the ever so handsom chestnut colt. And I am "stuck" with "that black mare." Heh heh. My sisters do not have my touch with the babies. The colts have been in a several months before my girlie and down at the main barn, where all the action is. My mare is up at the top barn where all of the "in the way horses" (horses not having any future plans at the moment. young ponies, teaser stud, my black filly, and so forth) are. The two colts I had worked with when they were with their mothers getting them handled and so on, but the black one wouldn't let me get two feet from her. Three sometimes, but never close enough to touch.

The colts now are barely leading, my older, more experienced sisters don't really know where to begin with the babies in my opinion. Sure they are standing up and looking pretty but they still will try to pull my sisters down the hallway or just not lead without a fight. My mare, never been handled, I had leading after two days, and tonight, I took her for the first time out of the stall. OMG OMG OMG!! She lead like a dream!I thought she would spaz out and rip herself out of my hands but no. It was amazing. She was reluctant to go out of the stall so I had to get behind her and chase her out without me leading the first time. When she got back in, I took her by her drag rope and she plodded along behind me like she'd been leading all her life. AH! I'm lovin it. My little black in the way nag is doing better than the jaw dropping colts.

I think I've said the same thing about forty times, but I am still giddy about it. I'll try to get some pictures up when I am not so busy. School is beating me down hard and I work a lot so, you know. No time. Later all!
