This morning a kitten, maybe 2 mo's old at maximum, crawled down a ventilation duct in my house.

The way it works is our house is two stories. The ventalation all runs in between the floors in a two foot gap. There is pretty much no access to this anywhere.

I have taken all the vents off the floor on the upper floor, and i removed all the ceiling vents on the lower floor and put furniture with pillows beneath them.

When the cat initially fell down the air duct there was whining for about 30 minutes and then it stopped and we haven't heard the trapped kitten since.

is there any type of emergency pet rescue that i can call? what do i do?

try to lure it out with meat or something like that. Leave out some food and water and when the kitten gets hungry/thirsty, he should come out.

you could try the fire department..Sometimes they will come out. Look in the phonebook for wild life services..and they should come out to help the kitten.

Also try the food method. And try and stay away from the can of food..and when you see her, rush over and grab her.

Try to sit silently by the opening with her favorite food. Eventually she should smell it and come to check it out, then you can grab her.

I'm worried though, she's a very young kitten and she may not be able to climb back up. Try calling all the local agencies (rescues, police/fire, ect) and see if anyone can help you. Maybe even try calling a ventilation company and see if they could recommend a way of reaching into the partcular system that you have. Good Luck. Let us know what happens.

Ok, so I'm really curious: Has the kitten come out yet?! No further updates have been posted, and something must have happened by now!
