I live in Long Island NY, I have 2 sugar gliders both male with cage for anyone who will give them love and attention. I have 2 ferrets one is male he is 1 1/2 years old and 1 female she is 5 also with cage. I just can't keep them anymore I just lost my first ferret he was 6 1/2 and my cat who was 16 years old. After dealing with both of them dying in the same week. I decided to get rid of all my animals. Post a message or email me at wildtilldawn@aol.com NY only please unless you are willing to travel.

I wish I was closer. I would love to take in your gliders.

You shouldn't give them away for free. If someone pays for them, they know they are paying for them (like an investment, so to speak) and will most likely take better care of them. If you give them away, someone might take them and go right ahead and sell them, or abuse them. They wouldn't mind, they never paid for them...
Just my thoughts

Prickles has a very good point.

I understand losing your friends is painful but please dont make any rash decisions. You will be losing more than you gain. I lost my beloved Pinky in jan. I put her cage out by the trash bin. By March I missed having rats around the house & brought it in and made it the happy home of two new friends.
I am sorry for your losses & good luck

I agree with Wolfcat, if you wait it out a little the pain might ease and if you've already given away your precious pets you might regret it.
However, if you really do want to rehome them I know someone who would be very happy to take in the sugar gliders. I can assure you they would be well taken care of by a responsible adult and in a friendly and safe environment. Let me know if you would still like to find a home for them.

hi- i have a 4 month old ferret and am looking for a friend for her. but i can not afford to just buy another one. we got a huge cage for her and all the works- thinking that would be enough- but we know she wants a friend.
i have 3 kids so money is very tight.
wish i was still in RI- i would be closer!
my mother lives in Va if you could get them that far she would bring them to me-
anyway just thought i would throw that out htere.
thanks and good luck

Perhaps if money is that tight, it might be best to save up a vet fund (assuming that you don't have one already) before adopting another fuzzy :)

no we have money for vet shots etc. but do not want to use it to buy another one, and don't want to wait a long time to get another ferret- as "they" say it is harder to introduce a new one after one has been alone for a year.

Hey, I live in New york and I have a question...
Do you know that the new york state laws say that ferrets and sugar gliders are illegal? I should know, being that I was very interested as keeping both at one time.
If you want to give them away, that's fine, but being that you are posting here, I would be very careful about who replies. You may have the ASPCA knocking at your door.

They aren't illegal here in Suffolk County. They are in the 5 boroughs.

Thank you all for your replies I haven't figured out what I'm doing with them yet. One of the fereents is old she is 5 now so I feel bad getting rid of her cause I have had her all this time. She only has a year or so left and thats not fair to get rid of her now after all this time. The other ferret is just a pain he goes all over the cage and won't go in his box and I'm just tired of cleaning the cage. I have to bleach everything to try to get the sent off and it just makes me so mad that I just don't want to deal with it anymore. I think if I was to get rid of them all I think a resue place would be better there is one in Brooklyn that I know of. I just can't give the Gliders to someone that has no clue on how to care for them since they need alot more then the ferrets. My gliders are very picky eaters and I don't know if just anyone would feed them the way I do. So as of now I'm still undecided.

Well, as I said, I do know someone who is an experienced glider owner and would take very good care of them should you want to rehome them. Let me know if you would like more information about them or to get in touch with them personally (they don't use this forum).

I could take the two ferrets if you decide. I am not a shelter but i do foster and rescue. I'm in binghamton and if you want to meet somewhere, that would not be a problem i currently have 4 and have owned them for years, and have the financial stability to provide your older one with the proper vet care as she gets older, along with a wonderful vet. Let me know if i can help at all. Pawsitivedogtraining@hotmail.com

I understand that you must be sad about your other animals passing on. But you can't just abandon the rest of your pets, to avoid heartache when they die. Death is a fact of life and you have to deal with it. You made a commitment to those animals when you purchased them. Don't wuss out on them now.
