My 2 girls were raised together, from pups.Yesterday they turned a yr. old.Well, today they were in a bad fight, and were bleeding.I had to take them out of there 10 gallon tank, and put them in 2 small cages.Because I didn`t have anything to seperate them in the tank. And they were trying to go at it again. So, there seperated now,and it seems like there gonna be o.k. What causes them to do that all of a sudden? Thanks for any info. Debbie

In the wild a gerbil colony will have one dominant female. This a very important position as only she gets to breed and produce pups.
That is why female gerbils fight, to preserve, or take over, top dog position.
In the wild the loser would have space to get out of the winners way for a while but of course in a tank........
Declanning is, I think, one of the most distressing problems gerbil owners have to deal with.
The likelihood is that this split is permanent.
