Ok, i now i have persuaded my mom to actually think about having a cat(s) but here are a few questions i dont have answers to:
How do you introduce a kitten(s) to a Dog??
Will 2 cats be better then 1?
Will a little Cat kennel be ok for it to shelter in whilst we are out?
How do you get a kitten(s) used to small pets?
I would love answers!

First off.. has your dog ever been around cats/kittens before? First you have to make sure the dog will not hurt the kitten. Keep the kitten in a carrier, and let the dog sniff through it. You can hold the kitten, and bring the dog in...it takes time if your dog has never lived with cats before.
Two cats would be great, cats like to be with another of their own species. They will curl up together, and clean each other...I would get two that were together.and already know each other.
If you could make a little set-up in your bathroom with food, water, a litter box, and a bed...that would be much better.
Cats should never be allowed to play with small animals, even if they have been introduced to them at a young age.

As for introducing the cat to dogs, you have to be careful. Depending on what breed you have some dogs are better than others with cats. Breeds bred to hunt and chase sometimes cannot be trusted around cats. To introduce them either put the dog or the cat in a kennel and introduce them through the bars. If they seem okay through the bars, then you can try introducing them in person. If the dog seems to want to bite the cat or gets very excited it's probably best to keep them apart. Never leave a small kitten unsupervised with a dog.
2 cats are not necessarily better than one. My cats all dislike each other, so I doubt that they would care if they were the only cat.
Never introduce a cat to smaller animals (hamsters, birds ect.) Cat's hunt these animals, thier natural prey. And given the chance your cat will try to kill them. Make sure that if you do have small pets they are housed in sturdy cages that the cat will not be able to open or tip over and get to open.

I agree with every single word that Kelly said
Although I have two cats, it was simply by fate that we kept them both (if it didnt work out my youngests owner had the right to take back the cat).
