I hope my hamster is ok. Lightning hit the condo building I live in. It was his first time hearing our high pitched fire alarms...I mean these things are designed to wake the dead!! I just hope it didn't scare him too much. Is there away I would know if that kind of fright would have any long term effect on him?

u could take him to the vet to see if the shock had ne internal effect on him like a colapsed lung not to frighten u but that has happed to my bff"s hamster due to a shoxk. all u need to do is ask them to do a saonagram or X-ray

Ouch...I am conserned but not THAT conserned. The last thing I need is to spend all of my honeymoon money one a vet bill right now.

well if u tell the vet what happened they will let u in a monthly payment plan (my aunt is a vet and she said almost any vet will do that as long as they get money :D

Even than...I don't have that kind of extra money each month without going without breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next 4 months.

I guess I am just looking for more homestyle cures on this one. I really can't afford to bring my animals to the vets other than vaccines and extreme emergancies.

If you don't notice any behavior changes- lack of appetite, abnormal sleeping patterns, lethargy- I wouldn't worry about it. He's probably okay. If my hamster can sleep through my little brother and his friends pillow-fighting in the next room...

he is probably ok, maybe a little scared, but ok. My friend brought his hamster to school when we had an unexpected fire drill. teh hamster was scared, but otherwise ok.
