Abby recently picked up a really bad habit. She will grab my arm and bite it or swat me with her claws. She will also chase and grab my ankles when I am walking. Ouch! I heard cats do this because they want to play, but she has plenty of toys and gets lots of playtime. How do I get her to stop doing this? It is really annoying and painful! :bawling:

Try some bitter apple were she is biting. Just spray it on you. You can find this is stores.

Make sure that when you play with hr your not using body parts as toys. They can learn that it is ok to pounce on humans this way.

Keep playing interactive games with her,ike feathers or lazer light.

Kittens will always have more of a facination with moving things (i.e. - you) than the non-moving things (i.e. - toys on the floor) so your a better toy basically.

Keep the claws clipped and get some dangling toys that will hang from doors or a wand that you flip around to get her from biting you. Its a kitten and might be teething, so chewing on you feels good to her even if it might hurt you. It will slowly go away as she gets older and just wants to take cat naps, eat, drink and sleep some more. You'll begin to miss it, so cherish the time you've got now.

Try telling her no, gently tapping her on the nose and giving her another toy to play with.

i am new to all this Cleo is my 1st kitten someone told me to keep a water spray beside me and when she is doing something i dont want her to, give her a wee squirt rather than smacking her. What do you think?

Spanking a kitty will not get you anywhere...... I used a small (the smallest I could find) squirt gun and gave a little squirt to the kitty. BUT NOT TO THE FACE!!!! Never spray kitty inthe face... anymore I just have to make a PSST sound and they stop whatever they are doing....

I put the cat in timeout. He goes in the bathroom. Of course the toilet is shut. and he cant get into any chemicals or shampoos. And when he comes out, hes sooooo calm and sweet. I only do this as the last resort, if ignoring him and telling him no doesnt work.
