Hi, I am new here and I think that you all have very interesting things to say about hamsters. I bought a hamster for my oldest son and I and am trying to learn as much as I can about him. Can't really decide on a name yet. My son likes Pikachu so that is the name we will probably use. We bought him three weeks ago and he is still a little jumpy. We can pet him but not hold him. I hope he will get used to us with time.

What kind of hamster is little Pikachu? I have a Cream Satin Syrian names Cream Soda. That's her pic on my avatar.

He is the same color as CS but he is not a satin and has more white under his chin and on his belly. All he likes to do is sleep so I don't see him awake very often. He is usually awake from 11pm to 9am. Luckily I stay up late so I can see him. My son wakes him up a bit after school to pet him, though.

He sounds adorable! You can train him, or rather, condition him, to be awake in the day more if you want. I had CS trained to sleep pretty much from midnight on, but I've let her slip.

Awwww! I could see the pics! I even tried the links, but they wouldn't work for me, either (I'm having a problem with that tonight, for some reason). You might want to try loading them onto a free picture server like Smartgroups first and then they'll show up on here.
